Homecoming 2010

Sunday, September 12, 2010 marked Redeemer's annual Homecoming Celebration. Unique this year was the opportunity for members and visitors to leave a personal inscription on the floor of the newly constructed entrance and town square. These personal "signatures", signed on bare concrete, will then to be covered with carpet and left for the duration. People signed both as individuals and as families, from eight to eighty-eight. Many left the name of one they hope and pray will find Christ through the power of the Holy Spirit. Many left a favorite bible verse. Others noted their "official" Redeemer dates (baptism, marriage, etc.) And others the names of sainted loved ones.

Below is a small sampling of the hundreds of inscriptions left in the new Town Square...

Final Roofing Takes Place

Final roofing, involving the same dimensional shingle that was used on the renovated gymnasium, is being completed this week. These new areas include the town square, the new main entrance and canopy and the ramp along the side of the music wing leading to the town square. Water proofing these areas will allow air to be circulated through the HVAC system which in turn creates a drier environment for the interior finish work to take place.

You can get your first look inside the town square and main entrance on Homecoming Sunday, September 12. While not yet open, the area will be on display that Sunday with another special opportunity to "sign" your way into Redeemer history ... more news to follow. (Think: beam signing in the gymnasium, but with more space to write your favorite Bible verse, a note to a loved one, or the name of someone you would like to bring to Christ ...)
