A Colonial Entrance

The main entrance on the west side of the building, including a new drop-off canopy, took a major step forward this week. Curbs and asphalt were completed around the entrance and landscape work has begun.

The architectural details that tie the new entrance to the remaining colonial style are also underway as slender white columns have been added all around the entrance stairs and entrance ramp. These columns will be detailed and painted over the next few days. Lighting will be added inside the new canopy.

The final touch will be a large white cupola that will be installed on top of the canopy just prior to our November 28 opening.

Main Entrance Takes Shape

The new main entrance is taking shape on the west side of Redeemer. The drop-off area has been shingled and trim work has begun. White columns will be added to both sides of the canopy. The stairs have been poured this week (above), and the covered ramp is already in place (see below.)

Entrance Canopy Takes Shape

The new entrance canopy that will allow drop-off and pick-up on rainy days is beginning to take final shape. By the way, the fancy word for this kind of entrance canopy, borrowed from the French, is porte-cochere.
Two sets of divided-glass doors like those at the new Westmaple entrance will complement colonial trim and slender white columns around the entrance. The final touch includes a new colonial cupola that will rest atop the canopy clearly marking the main entrance for all to see.
