Best Kept Secret

Perhaps the best kept secret in the Sacred Space project plan is the addition of two large multi-purpose classrooms immediately below the Town Square. Each room individually is nearly the size of the Great Room. A movable partition will allow us to use the rooms individually or together.

The rooms are accessible from either the existing elevator or the new stairwell immediately inside the new main entrance. The carpeted rooms will be equipped with audio/visual capability, storage room and a welcome/registration area.

Ceiling work and painting will begin over the next two weeks.

More Construction Photos from 5-4-10

More construction photos from a beautiful sunny May day at Redeemer ...

From the outside the opening for the new stage is now clearly visible on the north wall.

And from the inside, the temporary tarp over the stage opening lights up the entire gym.

Check out the exposed roof and beams that are now visible with the gym ceiling removed.

Meanwhile the cinderblock that surrounds the new maintenance storage room is going up at a rapid pace.

And the lower level classroom walls (below the Town Square) are being readied for concrete.

Out in front work continues on new water retention basins that will soon be hidden from view.

Design Update: Westmaple

Westmaple has unfortunately turned away families for many years. This year’s waiting list is already at 46 families and growing. Fortunately, Sacred Space will add two additional classrooms to the three existing rooms. With alternate day scheduling, we hope to bring as many as 50 new families to Westmaple and perhaps Redeemer.

The two new rooms will be built on the north end of the existing Westmaple wing. The new rooms will be similar in size to the existing rooms, and have the same amenities, including carpeting, built-in toy cabinets, 25 child cubbies, and child-sized fixtures in the new restrooms. The existing rooms will also see upgrades, like new room-controlled heating and cooling. Finally, much needed storage will be added for the Westmaple staff.
